Elizabeth Way Murals Update

The murals in the Elizabeth Way Roundabout underpasses have had most of their graffiti removed, so I’ve re-photographed them and updated the slides and panoramas.

There are still some coloured marks, but all scribbled ‘tags’ have gone apart from the faint ones on the ship in the first Stourbridge Fair mural and the light bulb in the second History mural.

This applies to the murals alone; the graffiti on the coving and fluorescent lamps above them has all been left untouched. The council appears to have a particular budget or asset class – such as “civic art” as opposed to “infrastructure” – that allows graffiti removal from the murals themselves to be expedited, but not extended to their immediate surroundings at the same time.
