Cows About Cambridge – Large Cows Trail

I’ve created a photographic record of the Cows About Cambridge Large Cows Trail and added it to the Walks page. This is the first of two sponsored walks that I’ve completed to raise money for the charity Break. Details of that can be found on my Just Giving page.

I’ve also walked and photographed the Mini-Moos Trail, and will upload that over the next few days. Then I’ll create gallery pages with more photos and details of the cow sculptures themselves, but without the walking trail routes and other pictures.

Elizabeth Way Murals Update

The murals in the Elizabeth Way Roundabout underpasses have had most of their graffiti removed, so I’ve re-photographed them and updated the slides and panoramas.

There are still some coloured marks, but all scribbled ‘tags’ have gone apart from the faint ones on the ship in the first Stourbridge Fair mural and the light bulb in the second History mural.

This applies to the murals alone; the graffiti on the coving and fluorescent lamps above them has all been left untouched. The council appears to have a particular budget or asset class – such as “civic art” as opposed to “infrastructure” – that allows graffiti removal from the murals themselves to be expedited, but not extended to their immediate surroundings at the same time.

Cows About Cambridge Sponsored Walk

In the week starting 9th August I’m planning to walk both the Cows About Cambridge sculpture trails to fundraise for Break. I’ll photograph all the cows on both trails in their settings, and include them here in the style of the existing Walks pages. If you’d like to pledge to sponsor me please contact me. Once I’ve completed the trails you’ll be able to donate to the charity directly via my JustGiving page.

Website Tweaks

I’ve made a few small alterations to the website in preparation for publicising it. The Walks page now lists the walks in chronological order rather than grouping them by direction from Home. The menu has been re-ordered with the more important pages first. There’s now a Search page for searching the website.

The Links page contains a few more links to sites I’ve found while looking into the history of the Grafton Centre.

Mill Road Revisited

On the way to photograph another walk, not yet written up, I walked along Mill Road with the wide-angle lens and got better views of Parkside Pool and three churches. I’ve added those to the Mill Road page, along with one of the skateboard park.
